Portland Men’s Tennis Signs Top Canadian Prospect Lucas Kimelman

Portland, Ore. – The Portland men’s tennis team has made a major recruiting splash by signing Lucas Kimelman to a National Letter of Intent. The Toronto, Canada native will be joining the Pilots as a freshman for the 2024-25 season, bringing with him an impressive tennis resume.

Kimelman boasts a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 11.12 and was ranked as high as No. 937 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Rankings. He is also among the Top 20 players from Canada and recently reached the quarterfinals of the 2023 Canadian National Junior Championships.

Head coach Aaron Gross expressed his excitement about adding Kimelman to the squad, especially with the departure of key players due to graduation. Gross highlighted the potential of the team’s young players and emphasized the need to add depth, with Kimelman being a great start.
