Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a thrilling last league match of the 2024 Indian Premier League, the Lucknow Super Giants emerged victorious against the Mumbai Indians by 18 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. Despite both teams being out of contention for the playoffs, it was a battle for pride that ended in a stunning upset for the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians.

Nicholas Pooran played a pivotal role in turning the game in favor of Lucknow Super Giants with his explosive 29-ball 75, supported by captain KL Rahul’s half-century. While Mumbai’s Rohit Sharma put up a valiant effort with an impressive innings comprising 10 fours and 3 sixes, it wasn’t enough to secure a win for his team.

Lucknow’s bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi and Naveen ul Haq, led the charge by dismissing key Mumbai batsmen including Sharma, Devald Brevis, Hardik Pandya, and Ishan Kishan. Despite a commendable 28-ball 62 by Naman Dhir, Mumbai Indians fell short of the target set by Lucknow Super Giants.

The match marked Mumbai Indians’ worst finish ever, with the team ending up at the bottom of the points table. The home crowd witnessed a thrilling contest that showcased the competitive spirit of both teams, ultimately culminating in a well-deserved victory for Lucknow Super Giants.
