Lucknow Super Giants secure a four-wicket victory as Mumbai Indians fail to show up in LSG vs MI match of IPL 2024

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a crucial four-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in a thrilling Indian Premier League match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. The no-show by MI batters pushed them closer to elimination as LSG capitalized on their lackluster performance.

MI’s top-order collapse saw captain Rohit Sharma, vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav, and number four batsman all departing for just 14 runs. Hardik Pandya added to the woes with his third golden duck of the IPL, leaving MI struggling at 28 for four at the end of the PowerPlay.

However, a resilient partnership between Ishan Kishan and Nehal Wadhera helped MI recover, with Tim David’s late cameo taking them to a total of 144 for seven. In response, LSG got off to a shaky start but Marcus Stoinis’ aggressive batting turned the tide in their favor.

Stoinis’ explosive innings of 62 runs off 45 balls, supported by captain KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda, guided LSG to victory despite some late wickets falling. The match went down to the final over, but LSG held their nerve to secure a crucial win.

With this result, MI’s chances of making it to the playoffs have taken a hit, while LSG’s campaign received a much-needed boost. The thrilling encounter kept fans on the edge of their seats and showcased the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket in the IPL.
