Conotton Valley Rockets Secure Fourth Consecutive OVAC Softball Title
In a thrilling showdown at Lisa’s Field, the Conotton Valley Rockets clinched their fourth consecutive OVAC Class A softball championship with an impressive 8-2 victory over the Madonna Blue Dons. The star of the game was Rockets’ pitcher Masy Baker, who showcased her Division I collegiate talent by striking out 15 batters and allowing only two runs on three hits.
Madonna head coach Jason Backel had high praise for Baker, calling her the best pitcher in the conference championships and acknowledging the challenge she presented to his team. Despite Madonna’s efforts to rally in the sixth inning, with Carmella Pulice delivering a clutch single to score two runs, the Rockets’ solid defense and timely hitting proved too much to overcome.
The game was not without its share of drama, as Madonna pitcher Kendall Ryan took a couple of hard comebackers off her arm and thigh but showed resilience by staying in the game. However, the Rockets capitalized on Madonna’s fielding errors and aggressive base running to secure the victory.
With the win, Conotton Valley continues its dominance in the OVAC Class A division, showcasing their depth and talent on both sides of the ball. As they celebrate another championship title, the Rockets look ahead to future success and the possibility of extending their reign in the league.
