Magna International Inc., a global mobility technology company, has been recognized for its groundbreaking innovations at the 2024 Automotive News PACE Awards. The company’s Integrated Driver & Occupant Monitoring System was named one of the 13 PACE Award winners out of 33 finalists.

This industry-first solution integrates an intelligent camera system into the interior mirror to actively detect, predict, and react to distracted driving. The system includes a high-resolution camera, infrared emitters, and an electronic control unit, all working together with advanced software to monitor the driver’s head, eyes, and body movements in real-time to detect distracted behavior, drowsiness, and fatigue.

In addition to winning the PACE Award, Magna also received two PACEpilot Innovation to Watch recognitions for their EcoSphere™ 100% Melt-Recyclable Foam and Trim, as well as their Modular & Scalable Active Grille Shutter Assembly. The EcoSphere system is a sustainable seating solution that eliminates the disposal of seating foam pads and trim covers in landfills, while the Active Grille Shutter Assembly is an innovative and cost-effective solution that contributes to reducing CO2 emissions.
