Reading Time: < 1 minute

Rolls-Royce, a global leader in power and propulsion solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Majestic Fast Ferry Pte Ltd in Singapore to enhance clean and energy-efficient sailings for its fleet of 11 ferries. The ferries are equipped with mtu propulsion systems, showcasing a commitment to sustainability and innovation in the maritime industry.

The event also marked a significant milestone for Majestic Fast Ferry, as it celebrated the purchase of its 100th mtu engine since 2016 from Rolls-Royce Solutions Asia. The engines, specifically the mtu Series 2000 engines, have been instrumental in powering the ferry operator’s operations, with the 100th unit being the 16V 2000 M72 model.

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both companies, including President of Global Markets Rolls-Royce Power Systems, Giovanni Spadaro, and Managing Director of Majestic Fast Ferry, Max Tan. The agreement reaffirms the strong partnership between the two companies and their shared commitment to enhancing marine connectivity and exploring alternative fuel sources for a greener maritime industry.

Rolls-Royce will continue to collaborate with Majestic Fast Ferry to ensure sustainable ferry services, including the use of engines and propulsion solutions that can run on hybrid and renewable fuels like Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO). This partnership highlights the dedication of both companies to driving innovation, fostering sustainable development, and reducing emissions in the maritime sector.

The signing of the MOU coincided with Rolls-Royce Solutions Asia’s 50th anniversary in Singapore, further underscoring the company’s longstanding presence and commitment to providing service solutions across various industries. Majestic Fast Ferry’s journey from a single ferry operator to a leading player in the competitive ferry transportation industry showcases the impact of strategic investments in technology and innovation.
