The Minot High Majettes’ softball team kicked off their season with an impressive doubleheader sweep against Grand Forks Central at Minot State University’s bubble. The Majettes, who were ranked second in the WDA pre-season poll with 93 points, showcased their talent and versatility in the season opener.

Head coach Gerard Cederstrom praised his team’s performance, highlighting their solid pitching, defense, and active bats. Despite some rough patches, the Majettes managed to secure a 15-3 victory in game two, following a 10-0 win in the first game.

Pitcher Sydnee Bartsch and Reagan Terrel delivered strong performances on the mound, while hitters like Journey Larson, Jillian Ackerman, and Hallie Baker shined at the plate. The team collectively had 25 at bats, 16 hits, and 15 runs in the second game, demonstrating their offensive prowess.

Cederstrom emphasized the importance of having a plan at the plate, noting that the team’s success was a result of their strategic approach to each at-bat. The Majettes’ dominant performance in the doubleheader sets a promising tone for the rest of the season.

With a 2-0 start, Minot High looks ahead to their upcoming doubleheader against Williston on April 8. The Majettes will aim to carry their momentum into the next games as they continue their quest for a successful season.
