Bismarck High Dominates Glee Mayer Invitational in Minot

The Glee Mayer Invitational held at Duane Carlson Stadium in Minot was a showcase of talent for girls track and field teams from several schools. Bismarck High emerged as the top team with 166 points, followed by Bismarck Century in second with 120 points and Minot High in third with 115 points. The competition was fierce with nine teams participating, including Minot North, Dickinson, Bismarck Legacy, Mandan, Watford City, and Williston.

Minot High and Minot North showcased their strength in the 3200-meter run, with several athletes finishing in the top eight. Eighth grader Kaylee Jackson from Minot High took first place with a time of 12:23.97, while Minot North’s Alyviah Kopp and Makenna Jackson finished fifth and seventh respectively. Minot High’s Eve Knutson claimed victory in the 300 hurdles, with teammate Haley Conklin finishing fourth.

In the field events, Minot High’s Makayla Whitfield impressed with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash and a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash. The team also excelled in the relay events, finishing second in both the 4×100 and 4×200 relays.

The meet was a preview of the talent and determination of these young athletes, setting the stage for upcoming competitions. The next meet on the schedule is the Jamestown Meet followed by the Dickinson Boys & Girls meet, where these athletes will have another opportunity to showcase their skills and compete for top honors.
