Renowned British television doctor Michael Mosley has gone missing on the picturesque island of Symi in Greece, sparking a frantic search by authorities and volunteers.
The 67-year-old doctor, famous for promoting the 5:2 diet and other forms of intermittent fasting, was last seen setting off to walk back from a local beach on Wednesday afternoon and never made it home. His phone was found at his accommodation, adding to the mystery of his disappearance.
Greek authorities, including police officers, the fire brigade, volunteers, and a trained police dog, are all involved in the search efforts. A search and rescue team from Athens has also been dispatched to the island with drones and other sophisticated equipment to aid in the search.
The terrain in the area where Mosley went missing is described as rocky and difficult, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) on the day he disappeared. Local mayor Lefteris Papakalodoukas expressed concerns about the extreme heat and challenging conditions in the search area.
Mosley, who studied at the University of Oxford and worked as an investment banker before transitioning to medicine, has been a prominent figure in the health and wellness industry. His disappearance has made headlines in both British and Greek news outlets, with an appeal for information and a photo of him being circulated on social media.
As the search for Michael Mosley continues, friends, family, and fans are hoping for his safe return.
