MakeMyTrip (MMT) has rolled out a series of tech-powered upgrades for railway passengers, aiming to enhance the overall train travel experience and address common consumer pain points. In a recent press release, the online travel provider announced the introduction of several new features designed to make train journeys more convenient and enjoyable.

One of the major challenges faced by travelers is the difficulty in securing confirmed tickets, especially during peak travel seasons. To tackle this issue, MakeMyTrip Trains has introduced a “seat lock feature” that allows passengers to reserve a confirmed ticket by paying just 25% of the fare, with the remaining amount due up to 24 hours before the journey.

Rajesh Magow, co-founder and group CEO of MakeMyTrip, emphasized the company’s commitment to enriching train travel and ensuring a memorable experience for every passenger. The new features aim to streamline the entire train travel process, from planning and booking to the actual journey and post-arrival stages.

In addition to the seat lock feature, MakeMyTrip has also introduced functions such as ‘linked travel’ to combine bus and rail travel options, ‘route extension help’ to suggest alternative routes, and ‘Food in Train’ for easy food delivery on board. The platform now includes PNR and availability notifications, train tracking, and platform location features to provide passengers with real-time information and updates.

Furthermore, MakeMyTrip has implemented a free cancellation option to allow travelers to reschedule their trip without incurring hefty cancellation fees. With these new tech-powered upgrades, MakeMyTrip aims to revolutionize the train travel experience and make it more convenient and enjoyable for passengers.
