Rogelio Villarreal Jasso, a man based in Mexico, recently had a stroke of luck when he made his first purchase at luxury retailer Cartier. In a viral post on social media, Jasso shared the unbelievable story of how he managed to snag a pair of diamond and gold earrings for a mere 237 pesos, which is roughly $13.98. The earrings were actually supposed to be listed for 237,000 pesos, approximately $13,975.

Cartier, upon realizing their mistake, tried to cancel Jasso’s order and offered him champagne and a leather card holder as compensation. However, Jasso was not satisfied with this resolution and decided to take matters into his own hands. He contacted the Mexican Office of the Federal Prosecutor for the Consumer, and Cartier ultimately complied with his request.

Last week, Jasso received the earrings he had purchased at the incredibly low price. He documented the entire experience on social media, garnering over 4.7 million views. Jasso expressed his happiness at receiving the earrings but also highlighted the importance of consumer rights awareness in Mexico.

This incident serves as a reminder for consumers to be aware of their rights and protections under consumer law. Cartier has yet to comment on the situation. This story is a testament to the power of consumer advocacy and the impact one individual can have in holding companies accountable for their mistakes.
