Mar Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort in Scotland is undergoing a major transformation with a multi-million-pound renovation led by Align Partners on behalf of Dutco. The latest development in this repositioning effort is the appointment of a new Head Greenkeeper and Head of Golf.
Andrew Eckford, the new Head Greenkeeper, brings with him 13 years of experience in greenkeeping at Cameron House and an impressive tournament resume. His notable tournaments include the World Corporate Golf Final and International Pairs at The Carrick, Cameron House, as well as the R&A Senior Open Championship at Trump Turnberry’s Ailsa Course.
Joining Eckford is PGA Professional Christopher McQueen, who takes on the role of Head of Golf after working at Gleddoch Resort and Spa and Trump Turnberry Resort. McQueen has a wealth of experience in golf operations, retail, coaching, custom fitting, and luxury customer service. He will also continue to operate his coaching business from Mar Hall.
McQueen expressed his excitement about the new role, stating, “Joining the Mar Hall team amidst a period of extensive investment offers an exciting opportunity for me, the wider team, and golf enthusiasts. We want to put Mar Hall back on Scotland’s map as the home of golf.”
In addition to the new hires, significant improvements are being made to the golf course, including repairs to all bunkers, aeration of the greens, and the installation of a new automated irrigation system. The resort has also purchased 12 new golf buggies and plans to expand the team to ensure a five-star guest experience.
David Webster, operations director at Align Partners, emphasized the commitment to elevating the guest experience to a five-star luxury hospitality level. The appointments of Christopher and Andrew, along with the ongoing investments in the course, demonstrate the high aspirations for the golf offering at Mar Hall.
These golf appointments are part of a series of new senior hires at the resort, signaling a new era of excellence in hospitality and service.
