Tennis Players Face New Threat: Financial Robberies

Playing tennis can be hazardous to one’s health, with joint issues being common among players. However, recently, a new type of injury has been plaguing tennis players: financial ones.

Grigor Dimitrov and Sebastian Korda have both fallen victim to thieves who have stolen expensive watches straight off their bodies while they were driving or riding in cars. In broad daylight, a person on a motorbike approaches them and snatches the watch. Maria Timofeeva, on the other hand, has experienced a different type of robbery, with money being taken from her bank account while she still has her bank card on her.

Timofeeva recently took to her Instagram account to seek help after nearly $11,000 (10,000 euros) was stolen from her account. Strangely, both times she has had money taken from her account, she was in Spain.

The situation raises concerns for tennis players traveling in Spain, as it seems to be a targeted location for these financial robberies. However, there is also speculation that the thefts may be orchestrated by someone elsewhere who knows the players’ whereabouts.

In other news, the ongoing speculation about Rafael Nadal’s retirement has irked Iga Swiatek, who is tired of the constant questioning. Nadal, who is still working his way back into form ahead of the French Open, has faced scrutiny about when he might retire. Swiatek, however, believes that Nadal should be allowed to make that decision on his own terms and without pressure from others.

As the tennis world continues to grapple with these financial robberies and retirement speculations, players like Swiatek and Nadal are focused on their game and preparing for upcoming tournaments.
