Marlins pitcher Eury Pérez to have Tommy John surgery, will be out for the 2024 season

The Miami Marlins have been hit with a major blow as young pitching prospect Eury Pérez will miss the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery. The 20-year-old was expected to be a key player for the struggling Marlins, who have yet to win a game in their first seven outings.

Pérez, who made his MLB debut in May 2023, was signed by the Marlins as an international free agent in 2019. He showed promise early on, posting a 1.34 ERA with 54 strikeouts in his first nine starts. However, his season took a turn for the worse after a disastrous outing against the Atlanta Braves in July.
