Marquette Senior High School in search of new athletic director as Alex Tiseo moves on

Marquette Senior High School is on the lookout for a new athletic director as current AD Alex Tiseo has announced his departure to take on the same role at Charlevoix High School downstate.

Tiseo, a 2004 graduate of Marquette Senior High School, has served as the athletic director for the past seven years. In a statement released earlier this week, Tiseo expressed that the decision to leave was a difficult one but was ultimately in the best interest of his family.

During his tenure at MSHS, Tiseo oversaw significant developments in the school’s athletic facilities, including the inauguration of a new football field and the addition of the Barb Crill Gymnasium.

Tiseo’s background in athletics administration includes stints at Michigan Tech, Baldwin-Wallace, and various GLIAC schools before returning to his hometown to work at Northern Michigan University.

Throughout his time at MSHS, Tiseo has been recognized for his contributions to high school athletics, receiving awards such as the MIAAA Regional Athletic Director of the Year in 2022 and the U.P. Athletic Director of the Year earlier this year.

As the search for a new athletic director begins, the Marquette community reflects on Tiseo’s impact and contributions to the school’s athletic programs. His departure marks the end of an era for MSHS athletics, but his legacy will continue to inspire student-athletes for years to come.
