The Marshall University Tennis team’s journey in the 2024 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship came to an end in a heart-wrenching 4-3 defeat to the App State Mountaineers. The match, which took place in Rome, Georgia, was a nail-biter from start to finish.

Despite a strong start with the duo of Gabrielle Clairotte and Doroteja Joksovic winning their doubles contest on court three, the Mountaineers managed to secure the doubles point after a tiebreak on court one. In singles, Andjela Lopicic, Joksovic, and Rieke Gillar fought hard and secured wins for Marshall, but it wasn’t enough to clinch the victory.

The Marshall tennis team put up a valiant effort, but ultimately fell short in a closely contested match. However, fans and supporters have the opportunity to contribute to the Championship Fund for Marshall tennis to show their support for the team. All proceeds from the fund will directly benefit the Marshall tennis program.
