Marty Morrissey Secures RTÉ Approval for Spanish ‘Marty Party’ – Fans Invited to Join for €1,300

Renowned sports commentator, Morrissey, has made headlines by taking a bold step in adhering to new rules around branding and advertising for RTÉ personalities. In a move that left no room for ambiguity, Morrissey labeled his latest announcement as an “ad” on social media.

The announcement in question is an event taking place in Spain from October 1-8 at the Holiday World Polynesia Hotel in Benalmadena. Described as “a week of great fun, great entertainment, and plenty of laughs,” the event will feature Morrissey alongside a lineup of talented musicians and singers including Tommy Fleming, Sharon Shannon, and more.

The package for this event costs €1,275 per person, which includes return flights to Malaga, airport transfers, seven nights’ accommodation, breakfast and dinner daily, entertainment each afternoon, and the services of a Killester Travel representative. Morrissey will also be MC-ing throughout six of the seven evenings.

Morrissey stated that he received permission from RTÉ for this external brand deal, as the broadcaster has implemented strict new governance rules regarding gifts and external activities for its staff. Presenters who receive gifts worth over €100 from brands must either return them or hand them over to RTÉ.

This move by Morrissey reflects a larger trend among high-profile presenters who are expanding their earning opportunities as social media influencers.
