Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Dallas Stars came out victorious in a thrilling 3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night, evening the Western Conference Final at one game each. Mason Marchment scored the game-winning goal at 3:41 of the third period, breaking the tie with a deflected shot that slipped past defenseman Vincent Deshamais and goalie Stuart Skinner.

Stars captain Jamie Benn also contributed to the win with a goal and an assist on Esa Lindell’s empty-netter in the final minutes of the game. Wyatt Johnston added two assists to help secure the victory for Dallas.

Goalie Jake Oettinger was solid between the pipes for the Stars, making 28 saves, including a crucial glove save on a shot by Mattias Ekholm late in the game.

The series now shifts to Edmonton for Game 3, where the Stars will look to build on their success in their only previous trip there this season. The Oilers will be aiming to bounce back and regain the series lead on home ice.

The win was especially sweet for Marchment, who had not scored since the playoff opener and missed several games due to injury. The victory also marked the end of Edmonton center Leon Draisaitl’s impressive 13-game points streak to start the playoffs.

With the series now tied, both teams will be looking to gain the upper hand in what promises to be a fiercely contested battle for a spot in the Stanley Cup Final.
