Reading Time: < 1 minute

The University of Massachusetts tennis team is gearing up for their third NCAA Team Tournament appearance in program history as they face off against No. 2 Stanford at Taube Family Tennis Stadium on Friday, May 3 at 4 p.m. EST. The winner of this match will advance to face the winner of Baylor/LSU in the second round on Saturday, May 4.

After clinching their first Atlantic 10 Championship since the 2016-17 season, the Minutewomen are looking to make a statement in the NCAA tournament under the leadership of head coach Juancarlos Nunez. With a strong postseason run, including a shutout victory over Rhode Island and wins over Saint Louis and Richmond in the A-10 tournament, UMass is riding high on momentum.

Nine out of the ten Minutewomen players hold winning singles records, with four doubles teams also boasting winning records. This depth and strength will be crucial as they take on the powerhouse Stanford team, who have a storied history in collegiate tennis with 20 NCAA championships to their name.

The NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships will kick off on May 3-4, with the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals set to take place in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Fans can follow the UMass tennis team on Twitter and Instagram for live updates and coverage of their journey through the tournament. Don’t miss the action as the Minutewomen look to make history on the court.
