Max Herendeen, a freshman golfer at the University of Illinois, has been making waves in the collegiate golf scene with his impressive performances. Hailing from Bellevue, Wash., Herendeen arrived on campus with high expectations after a stellar junior golf career.

The top-25 recruit in the American Junior Golf Association rankings had a standout senior season at Bishop Blanchet High School, leading his team to a state championship and claiming individual honors at various levels. His success continued into college as he finished second in his Illinois debut and went on to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.

Illinois sophomore Ryan Voois praised Herendeen’s consistency and solid play, highlighting his ability to handle the pressure of competing at a high level. Head coach Mike Small also commended Herendeen’s growth and development, noting his physical talent and mental toughness on the course.

Herendeen’s dedication to improving his game has paid off, with 10 top-20 finishes in 11 tournaments during the fall and spring seasons. He credits his growth to the support and guidance of Coach Small and the team’s focus on mental toughness and closing out tournaments strong.

As Herendeen heads into the NCAA Stanford Regional, he is confident in his game and focused on fine-tuning the details to continue his success on the course. With a strong foundation and a mindset geared towards improvement, Herendeen is poised to make a lasting impact in collegiate golf.
