Prosper Residents Embrace Mayor’s Fitness Challenge

Prosper residents are stepping up to the challenge this spring as they lace up their sneakers and commit to a season of fitness. The Mayor’s Fitness Challenge is in full swing, encouraging participants to dedicate at least 90 minutes per week to physical activity of their choice until May 31.

Registration is easy and can be done through the town’s website, where participants can also download a tracking sheet. Those who complete the challenge by submitting their tracking sheets to the Parks & Recreation Department by June 9 will receive a free T-shirt and be entered into a drawing for Bluetooth earbuds.

But the fitness journey doesn’t stop there. Prosper is dedicated to promoting year-round wellness, with a summer season from June 1 to Aug. 31 and a fall season from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30. Participants who stick with the challenge throughout all three seasons and submit completed tracking sheets for both spring and fall will be eligible for the grand prize – the Mayor’s Challenge Coin.

In addition to individual fitness goals, Prosper is teaming up with neighboring Little Elm for The Journey of 1,000 Miles. This friendly competition, running from March 25 to April 21, encourages participants to track their steps each week with the goal of collectively covering a thousand miles and fostering community spirit across town boundaries.

For more information or to register for the Mayor’s Fitness Challenge or The Journey of 1,000 Miles, residents can visit the town’s website or contact Trevor Helton at thelton@prospertx.gov or call 972-569-1064.
