The music world is mourning the loss of MC5 drummer Dennis Thompson, who passed away at the age of 75. Thompson, the last remaining member of the iconic band, died at MediLodge of Taylor on Thursday, May 8, after battling a series of medical issues.

Thompson’s family confirmed the news, revealing that the musician had been admitted to the care facility to rehabilitate following a heart attack in April. Despite his health struggles, Thompson was still able to receive the news of MC5’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a moment he was reportedly thrilled about.

“It’s about f—— time!” Thompson told his now-widow, Becky Tyner, upon hearing the news. Tyner shared that Thompson was excited and happy about the induction and was optimistic about recovering and returning home to his cat, Annie.

Thompson’s passing follows the deaths of other MC5 members, including manager John Sinclair in April and guitarist Wayne Kramer in February. Bassist Michael Davis passed away in 2012, while guitarist Fred “Sonic” Smith and singer Rob Tyner died in 1994 and 1991, respectively.
