Philip Barbour junior Avery McDaniel has been named the Big 10 Conference’s Player of the Year, adding to her impressive list of accolades. McDaniel, who was the league’s Pitcher of the Year last season, showcased her versatility this spring by also playing shortstop for the Lady Colts.

In addition to McDaniel’s recognition, Philip Barbour’s Amanda McDaniel was honored as the Coach of the Year, further solidifying the team’s success this season. Grafton’s Lillie Crimm was named Pitcher of the Year, highlighting the competitive talent within the conference.

The first team selections included standout players such as senior center fielder Katie Kennedy and senior left fielder Preslee Fincham from Philip Barbour. Other notable first team players were Philip Barbour junior Katelyn Cooper, Elkins sophomore Hailey Riffle, Preston County’s Myla Wotring, and Lewis County’s Macey Franklin, who were recognized as utility players.

The second team featured players like Philip Barbour’s Payton Holbert, Buckhannon-Upshur’s Jansen Kimble and Alyssa Abel, Lewis County’s Courtney Hartley, and North Marion’s Rayden Satterfield, among others. The depth of talent in the conference was evident with each player’s exceptional skills and contributions to their respective teams.
