McDonald’s Appoints Sanjeev Agrawal as Developmental Licensee for North and East India

In a strategic move to expand its presence in north and eastern India, US fast food chain McDonald’s has appointed Sanjeev Agrawal as the new developmental licensee for its outlets in the region. This decision comes months after McDonald’s bought out the business from its former local partner, Vikram Bakshi.

Agrawal, who is the group chairman and founder-promoter of MMG Group, brings with him a strong understanding and passion for the McDonald’s brand, as well as a proven track record in the food and beverage and hospitality industries. He is also known for his successful ventures in bottling and marketing of soft drinks, oil and gas, and hospitality.

According to a McDonald’s spokesperson, Agrawal is the right strategic partner to drive quality and innovation for the brand in North and East India. The company aims to create more exciting experiences for customers by modernizing restaurants, enhancing digital consumer engagement, and offering personalized service and menu items tailored to local preferences.

McDonald’s has been managing its business in north and east India since ending its association with Vikram Bakshi last year. The company bought out Bakshi’s stake in their joint venture, Connaught Plaza Restaurants Ltd, and has been overseeing the operations of over 150 restaurants in the region.

Robert Hunghanfoo, who was appointed to head CPRL after Bakshi’s exit, continues to lead the operations in north and east India. With Agrawal on board as the new developmental licensee, McDonald’s is poised for further growth and success in the region.
