Reading Time: < 1 minute

Meet Pablo Paternostro, a rising star on the Florida Gulf Coast University men’s tennis team. Hailing from Boca Raton, Paternostro made a significant impact in his freshman year, finishing with an impressive 13 combined wins in singles and doubles. The Naples Daily News had the opportunity to sit down with Paternostro to learn more about his journey as a student-athlete at FGCU.

When asked about his decision to choose FGCU, Paternostro highlighted the proximity to his hometown, allowing his family to attend games and his preference for outdoor tennis year-round. He also praised the campus lifestyle, including access to the beach and top-notch sports facilities.

Transitioning from online high school to campus life presented some challenges for Paternostro, but he emphasized the importance of building relationships beyond the tennis team. He advised incoming Eagles to connect with other students and explore different interests on campus.

Before matches, Paternostro has a unique pre-match ritual of stretching while listening to a mix of Spanish reggaeton and The Beatles to get in the right mindset. As a management major, he has already completed his general education requirements and is now focusing on business classes that align with his interests.

Off the court, Paternostro is a talented cook and dreams of opening his own restaurant in the future. His favorite spot to eat? His dorm room, where he whips up Cajun-style pasta with chicken inspired by Louisiana cuisine.

With a bright future ahead both on and off the court, Pablo Paternostro is a name to remember in the world of collegiate tennis. Stay tuned for more profiles on FGCU athletes as they make their mark in the 2024 season.
