Megan Goward of Breckenridge recognized with AP girls basketball award

Bridgeport senior Megan Goward has been recognized for her outstanding performance on the basketball court, earning honorable mention honors from the Associated Press for the Division 4 girls basketball all-state team. This achievement comes as no surprise, as Goward made history by becoming the second 1,000-point scorer in Breckenridge girls basketball history.

Throughout the season, the 5-foot-6 senior showcased her skills, finishing with impressive stats including 466 points, 155 rebounds, 118 steals, and 66 assists in 26 games. Goward’s leadership was instrumental in leading the Huskies to a 19-7 record and a district championship, solidifying her place as a standout player in the division.

While Goward received honorable mention honors, Mio freshman Mia McGregor was named the D4 Player of the Year, highlighting the exceptional talent in girls basketball in Michigan. Additionally, Ryan Reichel, the coach of state champion Ishpeming, was named Coach of the Year, recognizing his leadership and success on the court.
