Men’s Tennis Advances to NESCAC Semifinals with Dominant 5-0 Victory against Wesleyan

The No. 9 Tufts University men’s tennis team continued their impressive run in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament with a dominant 5-0 victory over sixth-seed Wesleyan University. The Jumbos, seeded third in the tournament, extended their winning streak to 12 matches against Division III competition and 10 matches overall.

In doubles action, Tufts took an early lead with wins from the pairs of Sacha Maes and Corey Marley, Alex Ganchev and Vuk Vuksanovic, and Derin Acaroglu and Lachie Macintosh. The Jumbos swept the doubles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

Macintosh and Javier Gonzalez sealed the victory for Tufts with straight-set wins at No. 3 and No. 2 singles, respectively. The rest of the singles matches were abandoned as Tufts had already secured the win.

With the victory, Tufts advanced to the NESCAC semifinals where they will face second-seed Williams College. The match is set to take place on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. on the campus of Amherst College in Amherst, MA.

In other tournament action, top-seed Middlebury and fourth-seed Bowdoin also advanced to the semifinals with convincing wins. Middlebury will face Bowdoin in the other semifinal match on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Amherst.
