Men’s Tennis Celebrates Three Seniors with Dominant 8-1 Victory Against Hamilton

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The No. 11 Tufts University men’s tennis team showcased their dominance on Senior Day as they defeated Hamilton College 8-1 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) match at Voute Courts. The Jumbos honored their three seniors, Mauricio Gutierrez, Oliver Obeid, and Corey Marley, in a special pre-game ceremony.

Tufts got off to a strong start in doubles play, with Alex Ganchev and Vuk Vuksanovic securing a victory at the No. 1 spot, while Gutierrez and Marley cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Hamilton managed to pick up a win at No. 2 doubles, but the Jumbos quickly regained control in singles play.

Vuksanovic and Javier Gonzalez continued their impressive form with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions, respectively. Garv Bahl, Djokic, Marley, and Obeid also contributed to the team’s success with victories in their respective matches.

The Jumbos have now won 10 consecutive matches against Division III opponents and have only dropped eight individual matches during that span. They will look to extend their winning streak as they face off against No. 17 Amherst College in their NESCAC and regular season finale on Sunday at 10 a.m. at Voute Courts.

With their impressive performance and strong team chemistry, Tufts University men’s tennis team is poised for success as they head into the postseason.
