In a thrilling quarterfinal match at the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Tournament, the No. 6 Tufts University men’s tennis team faced off against the No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, ultimately falling 5-3 in a hard-fought battle. The match, held at the Doug Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, was a back-and-forth affair that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

The Jumbos, who finished the season with an impressive 18-7 record, put up a strong fight against CMS. The doubles matches were particularly intense, with all three going to tiebreaks. Despite a valiant effort from Tufts, CMS managed to secure the crucial doubles point, taking a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

In singles, Tufts fought back, with standout performances from players like Javier Gonzalez and Vuk Vuksanovic. Gonzalez, who finished the season with a 20-9 record, battled back from a first-set loss to secure a crucial win for the Jumbos. Vuksanovic also delivered a strong performance, winning his match at the top position.

However, CMS proved to be a formidable opponent, ultimately clinching the victory with wins in both doubles and singles matches. The loss marked the end of a successful season for Tufts, who have now made it to the NCAA Championship final site for the third consecutive year.

Despite the disappointment of the loss, the Jumbos can take pride in their accomplishments this season and look forward to building on their success in the future.
