The Penn State men’s tennis team secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Wisconsin in a hard-fought match on Friday. The Nittany Lions showcased their talent and determination, winning four singles matches to clinch the win.
In the doubles matches, Miko Eala and Stefan Simeunovic faced tough competition but unfortunately fell short against Wisconsin’s Michael Minasyan and Gabriel Huber. However, the duo of Ari Cotoulas and Alex Sterin managed to secure a win by forfeit at the No. 3 spot.
Moving on to the singles matches, Alex Sterin’s win by forfeit at No. 6 helped even the match score at 1-1. Miko Eala, ranked No. 79 in the ITA Poll, delivered a stellar performance at No. 1, defeating Minasyan with a score of 6-0, 6-3. Stefan Simeunovic also impressed with a straight-set victory on court two.
With the match tied at 3-3, Jack Martuccio stepped up and clinched the victory for Penn State by winning his match on court five. Despite some tough losses in other singles matches, the Nittany Lions’ overall performance was commendable.
