Men’s Tennis Secures Spot in Fort Worth Regional, Set to Take on Arkansas in NCAA Tournament First Round

The Cornell men’s tennis team is gearing up for an exciting trip to Fort Worth, Texas, as they prepare to battle in the first round of the NCAA Team Championships. After a strong regular season, the No. 31 ranked Big Red will face off against No. 30 Arkansas on Friday, May 3 at 3 p.m. EST at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

This will be Cornell’s first back-to-back trip to the tournament in program history, under the leadership of Director of Intercollegiate Tennis and Head Coach Silviu Tanasoiu. The team has made significant strides in recent years, with their first NCAA Tournament win coming in 2016 against Rice.

If Cornell advances, they will face the winner of the match between host Texas Christian University and UC Irvine on Saturday, May 4 at 5 p.m. The Big Red will be joined by other Ivy League teams in the tournament, including Columbia, Harvard, and Princeton.

Cornell’s impressive regular season included 18 wins, the most since the 2016-17 season, and victories over seven ranked opponents. Their strong performance has set the stage for an exciting run in the NCAA Championships.
