Men’s tennis team prepares to take on Columbia in NCAA Tournament

Quinnipiac Men’s Tennis Team Heads to NYC for NCAA Tournament

HAMDEN — The Quinnipiac men’s tennis team is gearing up for an exciting matchup in the NCAA Tournament as they head to New York City to face off against No. 8 Columbia at the Lions’ home courts on Friday.

The Bobcats, fresh off their MAAC Championship win, gathered in the Athletic Center Conference Room for the Selection Show where they learned of their opponent. Despite hoping for a different matchup, the team is ready to take on the challenge of facing the Lions.

Senior Shaurya Sood expressed the team’s winning mindset, stating, “Some of these guys, this is our last year. I do believe in doubles we can take the point, and from there we can take the singles.”

Head coach Bryan Adinolfi commended the team’s chemistry and expressed confidence in their lineup for the upcoming match. The Bobcats have already made history by winning their first MAAC Championship, a feat they have been working towards all season.

Senior captain Ayato Arakaki emphasized the team’s bond, calling them a family and noting that this is the best team he has ever been a part of.

This will be Quinnipiac’s fifth NCAA Tournament appearance and their first since 2010. The team is determined to give it their all and potentially pull off an upset against Columbia. The match is scheduled for May 3 at 1 p.m. at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center.
