Mets Release Jorge López After Outburst on Field

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The New York Mets have made a bold move by recalling left-handed pitcher Danny Young from Triple-A Syracuse and announcing their intention to trade or release right-hander Jorge López. This decision comes after López’s explosive outburst during a recent game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

López, who gave up a two-run homer to Shohei Ohtani and was subsequently ejected for arguing with an umpire, showed no remorse for his actions. In fact, he boldly stated, “I don’t regret it. I think I’ve been looking (like) the worst teammate probably in the whole … MLB.”

The fiery confrontation saw López pointing, yelling, and tossing his glove into the stands before leaving the field with his jersey untucked and cap lying in the dirt. Despite the backlash, López remained unapologetic, declaring, “I’m the way I am. I’m not afraid to be me.”

This move by the Mets comes as a surprise, considering López’s success as a dominant closer for the Orioles and his All-Star selection in the previous season. However, his behavior on the field has raised concerns about his attitude and professionalism.

As the Mets have seven days to make a decision on López’s future with the team, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how this situation unfolds. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
