Marshalltown boys track and field celebrated its seniors in a memorable way at the Kenny Dean Relays at Leonard Cole Field. The event was filled with impressive performances and heartfelt tributes to the graduating athletes.

Among the standout performers of the day were LaMar Johnson, who clinched victory in the 3,200-meter run, and Gatleel Joar, who dominated the 110 high hurdles with a remarkable time of 16 seconds flat. Coach Bob Gilbertson commended the senior group for their hard work and dedication, noting the significant improvements they have made throughout the season.

Despite technical malfunctions causing delays, the meet continued with a display of talent and determination. Johnson, fresh off a successful cross country season, secured first place in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:05.55. The 4×800 team also put on a strong performance, finishing second in 9:04.94.

Other notable achievements included Tate Riang’s second-place finish in the 100-meter dash and bronze medals for the shuttle hurdle quartet and the sprint medley team. Gilbertson praised the team’s resilience in the face of challenges and expressed optimism for future competitions.
