Miami-Dade’s tourism and hospitality industry had a record-breaking year in 2023, welcoming over 27.2 million visitors who spent an estimated $21.1 billion. This marked a 2% increase from the previous year, showcasing the county’s appeal as a top destination. The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) presented these impressive figures at their annual State of the Travel and Tourism Industry Presentation, attended by over 650 industry representatives, government officials, and community leaders.

The success of Miami-Dade’s tourism industry was attributed to innovative marketing strategies, exceptional offerings, and the hard work of industry partners. GMCVB President and CEO, David Whitaker, highlighted the enduring appeal of Greater Miami and Miami Beach as must-visit destinations, emphasizing the importance of tourism in supporting the local economy and enhancing the lives of residents.

In addition to the record-breaking visitor numbers, Miami International Airport (MIA) and PortMiami also saw unprecedented business, further solidifying their positions as the county’s top economic engines. MIA welcomed 52.3 million travelers in 2023, while PortMiami reclaimed its title as the “Cruise Capital of the World” with its busiest year in history.

Looking ahead, GMCVB is launching new campaigns to promote the impact of tourism and hospitality on the region, as well as expanding efforts to showcase multicultural tourism and development. With major events like the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, the Latin Grammys, and the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, Miami-Dade’s tourism industry is set to continue thriving, attracting visitors from around the world and boosting the local economy.
