Miami Valley residents are buzzing with excitement as the Powerball jackpot soars to over $1 billion. Dozens of hopeful players have flocked to Bee Gee’s Market in Kettering to purchase their tickets, with dreams of striking it rich.

Judy Nevels, who traveled from Wilmington to buy tickets at Bee Gee’s, expressed her optimism, saying, “If I win, I’ll give you some money.” Nevels highlighted the market’s reputation for producing winners, with prizes ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 being a regular occurrence.

Market owner Michael Sliger revealed that he plans to play the Powerball when it reaches a billion dollars, despite not being a frequent lottery player. “For a billion dollars, I do spend $10,” Sliger admitted.

Fairborn resident Tom Spicer also stopped by Bee Gee’s to try his luck, envisioning travel plans to Hawaii and the Caribbean if he were to win. Both Spicer and Nevels expressed intentions to give back to others if they were to hit the jackpot.

According to Forbes, the lucky winner will walk away with nearly $600 million after taxes. The decision to take the winnings in a lump sum or annual payments will be up to the individual, with Sliger suggesting that taking the money all at once could be more advantageous.

Stay tuned for the latest Powerball numbers, which will be revealed on News Center 7 at 11:00. The excitement continues to build as residents eagerly await the drawing that could change their lives forever.
