Michael Malone Responds to Rumors Linking Dan Hurley to the Lakers

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone is no stranger to taking shots at the Los Angeles Lakers, and the rivalry between the two teams continues to heat up. After sweeping the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals last year and defeating them in the first round of the playoffs this year, Malone has made it clear that he has no love for the storied franchise.

Despite the Nuggets being eliminated in the second round of the postseason by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Malone remains confident in his team’s future success. On a recent appearance on “The Jim Rome Show,” Malone commented on the possibility of UConn’s Dan Hurley becoming the new head coach of the Lakers, stating, “I think Danny can do a hell of a job coaching in the NBA.”

With the Lakers parting ways with head coach Darvin Ham and reportedly eyeing Hurley as his replacement, the pressure and expectations for the new coach will be immense. The Lakers, a franchise with 17 NBA titles, always have high expectations, and Hurley will have to navigate the challenges of coaching in Los Angeles.

As Hurley weighs his options between taking the Lakers job or returning to UConn, where he has found success leading the Huskies to back-to-back National Championships, the basketball world eagerly awaits his decision. Whether he chooses to lead the Lakers or stay with the Huskies, Hurley’s coaching future is certainly one to watch.
