Michael Richards, best known for his role as Kramer on the hit TV show “Seinfeld,” revealed in his new memoir that he was diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer in 2018. The actor shared his initial reaction to the diagnosis, saying he felt ready to go but then thought of his 9-year-old son and decided he wanted more time.
After a biopsy revealed the cancer needed to be contained quickly, Richards underwent surgery to remove his entire prostate. He credits this decision with saving his life, as he believes he would have only had about eight months to live if he hadn’t taken action.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the United States, according to the National Cancer Institute. Richards’ experience with the disease inspired him to write his memoir, “Entrances and Exits,” which delves into his life and memories. The actor, who is turning 75, said he wanted to review his life and connect with his feelings and memories.
The book is set to be released on June 4, giving fans a deeper look into Richards’ life and his battle with cancer. Despite the challenges he faced, Richards remains grateful for the opportunity to share his story and hopes to inspire others to take control of their health.
