In a surprising turn of events, Michel Pereira has announced that he will not be facing Roman Dolidze at UFC Louisville as originally planned. Pereira took to Instagram to explain his decision, stating that he did not agree to the fight with Dolidze, who is his training partner at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.
Pereira expressed his reluctance to fight a friend and training partner, citing the logistical challenges of finding a new gym to prepare for the bout in less than a month. Despite knowing that he will eventually have to face training partners in the UFC, Pereira felt that it was not the right time to fight Dolidze.
The Brazilian fighter recently secured two impressive victories in the UFC, extending his win streak to eight straight wins. On the other hand, Dolidze has suffered losses in his past two bouts.
In response to Pereira’s statement, Dolidze took to Twitter to clarify that he was under the impression that Pereira had agreed to fight on a different date, and only signed the contract after the UFC asked him to change the date.
The UFC has yet to announce a replacement opponent for Pereira at UFC Louisville. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold and whether Pereira and Dolidze will eventually face off in the Octagon. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
