Justin Pippen, the youngest son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen, has made a major decision regarding his future in basketball. The 6-foot-4 senior point guard out of Sierra Canyon High School in California has committed to playing college basketball at the University of Michigan.
Pippen, who was one of the fastest rising stars in the high school senior class, had offers from several top programs including Cal, Florida, Texas A&M, and Stanford. However, he ultimately chose Michigan because of the program’s strong coaching staff and the opportunity to make an immediate impact on the team.
“I’m really excited to be heading to Michigan,” Pippen said in an interview with Yahoo Sports. “The coaching staff believes in me and my abilities, and I can’t wait to get on the court and show what I can do.”
Despite not playing on a major AAU team last summer, Pippen’s dedication to improving his game paid off. He spent time in the gym with his older brother Scotty, who played college basketball at Vanderbilt and had stints in the NBA with the Lakers and Grizzlies. Pippen also trained with NBA stars like Devin Booker, Jalen Green, and Kevin Durant.
Pippen’s high school career at Sierra Canyon was marked by success, playing alongside talented teammates like Isaiah Elohim and Bronny James. He credits his growth as a player to learning from his peers and focusing on improving his defensive skills.
