Michigan State Men’s Tennis Team Makes History with First NCAA Tournament Victory

Michigan State men’s tennis made history on Friday by earning their first-ever win in the NCAA Tournament in impressive fashion. The Spartans, a No. 2 seed in the tournament and ranked 22nd nationally, swept the last undefeated team in the country, 4-0, in the Boston Regional.

The team will now face off against Harvard in the Boston Regional final for a chance to advance to the Sweet 16. Harvard also swept their opponent, Boston University, 4-0, setting up an exciting matchup between two dominant teams.

Key contributions from 2023 graduate transfers Ronald Hohmann III and Sebastien Collard played a significant role in the Spartans’ victory. Coach Harry Jadun, a former player on the only other MSU Men’s Tennis team to make it to the NCAA tournament in 2013, understands the significance of this historic win.

Jadun expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishment, stating, “It’s pretty remarkable. You talk about 110 years of history, and you just did something for the first time.” The Spartans’ 22 wins this season are the most in program history, marking a significant milestone for the team.
