Microsoft AI Copilot Feature Launched for PC and Laptop Windows Recall by Satya Nadella

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Microsoft unveiled an upgraded version of its AI assistant, Copilot, on Monday, marking a significant step in the company’s efforts to enhance user interaction with their devices. The new features include Windows Recall, which gives the AI assistant near-photographic memory capabilities to track user activities on their PC.

This announcement comes amidst a flurry of AI-related developments from major competitors like Google and OpenAI. Google recently introduced AI-generated summaries in its search engine, while OpenAI showcased a new voice assistant with remarkably human-like qualities. Despite Microsoft’s investments in OpenAI, the latter has also launched a new desktop version of ChatGPT tailored for Apple’s Mac computers.

With Apple’s developer conference approaching in June, Microsoft’s timing for the release of the new AI-driven features in Windows seems strategic. The features will be available from June 18 on high-end models from various manufacturers, including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, and Microsoft’s own Surface devices, starting at $999.

The move is seen as a preemptive measure to maintain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving AI technology landscape. Microsoft’s focus on integrating AI into its widely-used Windows operating system highlights the company’s commitment to enhancing user experience and staying ahead of the curve in the AI race. Stay tuned for more updates on the latest advancements in AI technology.
