Microsoft reports that Russian influence operations targeting US election have started gradually

Microsoft has revealed that Russian influence operations targeting the US election have slowly begun, with Russia-linked accounts disseminating divisive content aimed at American audiences. According to researchers at the tech giant, these online campaigns have intensified over the past 45 days, although the activity is slower compared to previous elections.

The report highlighted that the content being spread by Russia-linked accounts includes criticism of American support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. The researchers warned that while the current activity may be slower than in previous elections, it could just be the beginning of more to come.

The Russian embassy in Washington did not respond to requests for comment on the report. However, the Kremlin had previously stated that it would not interfere in the upcoming US presidential election. It also dismissed allegations made by the US that Russia had orchestrated campaigns to influence the 2016 and 2020 elections.

The researchers emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant against foreign influence operations and urged the public to be cautious about the information they consume online.
