Migrant accused of inciting El Paso border riot still at large in US, despite allegations of assault

An exclusive report by The Post has revealed that Gabriel Enrique Angarita Carrasquero, an accused instigator of the violent El Paso border riot on March 21, remains at large in the US. Despite allegedly assaulting a Texas soldier, Carrasquero was released into the US by Border Patrol following the incident and has evaded capture ever since.

The Venezuelan migrant, along with another instigator, was released due to a lack of detention space, despite admitting to entering the US illegally with a group that stormed the border. While the other instigator was later captured, Carrasquero’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Texas authorities have been unable to track him down, as he provided a false address to Border Patrol agents. Additionally, Border agents failed to review footage of the riot to identify Carrasquero’s role before releasing him, and he was not placed in the Alternatives to Detention electronic monitoring scheme.

The El Paso District Attorney’s office is taking the incident very seriously, as it is considered unusual for the typically peaceful city. Since the riot, Texas has increased security measures at the border with Mexico, but migrants are still finding ways to evade authorities and cross into the US illegally.

The situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by border enforcement agencies in managing the influx of migrants and maintaining security along the border.
