Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have made a decision that has left fans of the hit show ‘That ’70s Show’ disappointed. The couple, who played Jackie Burkhart and Michael Kelso on the beloved series, will not be returning for the second season of the spinoff, ‘That ’90s Show.’
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Mila Kunis, 40, explained the reason behind their absence from the show. She mentioned that they felt they had already done their part by introducing their son in the first season. The Netflix series, which premiered in January 2023, focuses on the children of the original cast members.
The decision comes amidst controversy surrounding their former co-star, Danny Masterson, who was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for two counts of rape. Mila and Ashton faced backlash after it was revealed that they had written letters to the judge in support of Masterson. In response to the public outcry, the couple released an apologetic Instagram video addressing the situation.
“We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters that we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson,” Ashton stated in the video. Mila added, “We support victims. We have done this historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future.”
The couple expressed their regret for any harm caused and emphasized their support for victims of sexual assault. Despite their absence from ‘That ’90s Show,’ Mila and Ashton remain committed to advocating for survivors and raising awareness about the importance of supporting victims of sexual abuse.
