Miley Cyrus, known for her bold and unconventional style, recently made headlines with her unique approach to working out. In a recent interview with W Magazine, the singer revealed her interest in feminizing the workout space by practicing in heels. She stated, “My mantra is, like any athlete, ‘Practice how you perform.’ So that’s why I practice in my heels. The gym looks really tough, but then I’ve got my ivory Gucci slingbacks because they remind me of Marilyn Monroe. I train in heels, mostly.”

While Miley’s dedication to incorporating fashion into her fitness routine is admirable, experts warn against working out in heels due to the numerous safety and health concerns it poses. Dr. V Anand Naik, Senior Consultant in Spine Surgery at PSRI Hospital, highlighted the risks associated with exercising in heels, including ankle injuries, balance issues, knee strain, foot problems, spine alignment issues, muscle imbalances, and restricted range of motion.

Dr. Akhilesh Yadav, Associate Director of Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement at Max Hospital, Vaishali, emphasized that working out in heels is not advisable for the average person. He explained that exercises such as weightlifting, running, jumping, and stretching can be particularly dangerous in heels due to their instability and lack of support. Proper athletic footwear is essential for safe and effective workouts, and any attempt to train in heels should be done under professional supervision with a clear understanding of the associated risks.

While Miley’s unconventional approach to working out may be inspiring to some, it is important to prioritize safety and choose appropriate footwear for exercise to prevent injuries and long-term musculoskeletal issues.
