Luz Cofresí-Howe has been appointed as the new finance director for the city of Milpitas, bringing with her a wealth of experience from her previous role as assistant director of finance in San Jose. In other news, the Metropolitan Education District’s Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center is gearing up for the 18th Annual Bob McTaggart Custom and Classic Car Show on May 3. The event, which supports SVCTE’s student competition group SkillsUSA, will feature a variety of custom and classic cars on display for attendees to admire and vote on in nine different categories.

From the best car and best motorcycle to the ugliest car and best paint job, there will be plenty of eye-catching vehicles to choose from. In addition to the car show, the event will also include raffles, prizes, food, and music for all to enjoy. Past events have raised over $10,000, making this a fun and impactful way to support SVCTE and its students.
