Ministry and BSSN collaborate to safeguard cybersecurity of World Water Forum

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) are joining forces to ensure cybersecurity during the upcoming 10th World Water Forum in Bali on May 18-25.

Director General of Public Information and Communication at the Kominfo Ministry, Usman Kansong, highlighted the importance of this collaboration in safeguarding data and information technology infrastructure for the event. This partnership between BSSN and PDSI is a standard practice whenever the Kominfo Ministry is involved in organizing international-scale events like the G20 Summit and the ASEAN Summit.

In terms of personal data protection, Kansong assured that all information, including participants’ and journalists’ data on the World Water Forum website, is well-protected. The ministry has taken extra measures by securing the main website of the World Water Council and creating a special subdomain for participants and journalists’ data. Passport numbers, a requirement for registration of foreign participants, are closely guarded through the joint efforts of PDSI and BSSN.

The 10th World Water Forum will address crucial issues such as water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and natural disaster mitigation through 244 sessions. The forum aims to achieve concrete results in mainstreaming Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) on Small Islands, establishing the Centre of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience, and observing World Lake Day.

With a strong focus on cybersecurity, the Kominfo Ministry is determined to ensure a smooth and secure 10th World Water Forum, free from any potential threats to data security and information technology infrastructure.
