The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has announced the launch of the third phase of the Anti-Mosquito Campaign in collaboration with the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and local authorities across the UAE. This campaign aims to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and reduce their spread in various locations across the country.

The first phase of the campaign was launched in February 2022, and the current phase will continue until May 2025. With the recent increase in rainfall in the country, there has been a rise in mosquito infestation in water pools and damp areas. The third phase of the campaign is focused on eradicating mosquito breeding hotspots to minimize infestation in various locations.

Alia Abdul Rahim Al Harmoudi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sustainable Communities Sector at MOCCAE, emphasized the importance of mosquito control efforts during this period. The ministry is committed to providing information, guidance, and support to the community to help reduce the spread of mosquitoes through various communication channels. MOCCAE has qualified teams and resources to deal with any developments or changes leading to an increase in mosquito spread.

Dr. Saif Juma Al Dhaheri, Director of the National Operations Center of NCEMA, highlighted the importance of national integration in combating biological challenges and close cooperation between relevant entities at both national and local levels. The national campaign focuses on prevention and control, health awareness and education, and eliminating mosquito breeding sites to protect the community from health risks.

Othaibah Saeed AlQaydi, Director of Municipal Affairs Management at MOCCAE, mentioned that the ministry is using the latest technical solutions to combat mosquitoes and reduce their spread. The campaign focuses on disseminating preventive measures with safety precautions to minimize the spread of mosquitoes. All measures used in the campaign are safe and non-harmful to humans or animals, targeting only the eradication of mosquitoes.

The collaboration between MOCCAE, NCEMA, and local authorities across the UAE demonstrates a unified effort to combat mosquito infestation and protect the community from health risks. The ongoing third phase of the Anti-Mosquito Campaign is crucial in ensuring the elimination of mosquito breeding grounds and reducing their spread in various locations.
