Minot North creates history with inaugural start | Latest Updates on News, Sports, Employment

The Minot North Sentinels made history as they played their first home game against the Grand Forks Red River Raiders at the MSU Bubble. The game was full of ‘firsts’ for the school, coaches, athletes, and parents. From the first pitch to the first hit, it was a memorable day for the fledgling softball program.

Despite their best efforts, the Sentinels found themselves trailing 18-0 by the third inning. The young team, consisting of mostly underclassmen, faced a tough challenge against the experienced Raiders. However, they showed moments of competitive spirit and resilience throughout the game.

Head coach Roger Coleman acknowledged the difficulties the team faced but remained optimistic about the future. With a roster of two juniors, three sophomores, and six freshmen, the Sentinels are focused on building a strong foundation for the program.

“We are excited to start a program from scratch,” said Coleman. “We know there will be bumps in the road, but there are always lessons to learn. As we focus on improving daily and working together as a team, it will be exciting to see our growth.”

The Sentinels, now 0-1, will look to bounce back in their upcoming games against Grand Forks Central and Turtle Mountain. Despite the challenges ahead, the team is determined to continue learning and growing as they navigate their first season together.
